bring on the rain

it was forecasted to rain on my morning with this awesome family-but we decided to go with it and were greatly rewarded by the fun with umbrellas and rain drops.

other

locations-

I love outdoor locations and will work with you to pick an appropriate location. We can meet at a park, in your yard, at my farm or at the hospital :)

Newborns can be photographed in their room, outside-only when weather is warm, in the hospital, or any other location where it is warm enough to unwrap them and capture all their wonderfulness :)

wardrobe-

I recommend thinking about what people should wear-everyone should be comfortable. I think jeans with coordinating, but not matching tops looks the best. I like kids to wear clothes that they like-

newborns are best without clothes-or a diaper cover-hats are fun and if they have a favorite blanket or snuggle we can use that in the pictures.

where should you print the pictures?

I think costco does a great job and their prices are great

mpix is a website where you can upload the images to their site and they mail you the prints-they have photobooks, enlargements and will print on canvas and foamboard.

Testomonials

shannon came into our home and in her friendly, natural way managed to capture the magic of a regular day with our growing boys...
each of their unique personalities just comes shining through in her beautiful photographs. i am so grateful to have such a gorgeous
record of this magical time in our family's life together. i've already begun dreaming about a fall photo shoot with shannon.
i cannot recommend her enough...this shoot is the best gift i've given myself in a long, long time.

Thank you so very much for being a part of my daughter’s birth. I can’t begin to express my feelings on that day, yet you somehow captured them all in the most beautiful way. From the moment I contacted you to discuss having photos taken at the hospital, you were conscious of making sure you were there to get photos of all the “big moments,” while still maintaining a level of comfort for me and my family during this highly personal time. By allowing us to chose the moments you were with us, my husband and I were able to celebrate our daughter’s birth in private. Your arrival in the recovery room was professional and respectful, and honestly went largely unnoticed! When I saw the pictures posted on your blog the very next day, I was amazed that you had been able to capture such tiny details – the wrinkles on her feet, the splay of her fingers, her head tucked into my husband’s palm – when you never asked us to hold her up for a picture or “posed” us in any way. You were with us for such a short time, and yet you captured all of the joy, awe and love we experienced upon meeting our daughter. Your ability to photograph the moments that truly tell the story of this extraordinary event without ever making us feel uncomfortable or imposed upon will be forever appreciated, and the photos from that day will be forever treasured.

Thank you!

About Me

babydayphotography: my name is shannon lockwood. i love working with families in every stage. my inspiration to pursue photography professionally started a few years ago and began as the idea that the day a baby is born is the most amazing days in the life of family. this day is worth documenting. the emotions, smiles, tears, and first kisses can't be replicated or staged. i love giving families these images to remember forever. i live on a family farm with my husband and 4 kids. i work part time as a pediatric occupational therapist. i love being outside. i love watching kids run and play and explore nature. i love images that are honest and bring to life a feeling.
