this is a journey i will never forget...and when people ask me about the memorable aspects-my always answer is the people. i met so many incredible people-enthusiastic, loving, generous, open and beautiful...our world is made up of so many differences-but the sameness is amazing. pictures first-hopefully more words later :)
we had an unexpected overnight layover in london-which was actually very nice. british airways put us up in a hotel and paid for dinner and breakfast..we didn't have to retrieve all our checked bags and i got to walk around london-even if it was just next to healthrow. next time we will be more prepared and go on the tube to trafalgar square :)
several of our bags did not arrive-including mine-the kids were incredible for this whole trip-and the reunion with nicole was so touching...
we stayed in karen-a suburb of nairobisome scenes from our walks
tiffany and i fly over to eldorett to stay with caleb's grandfather and aunt-they welcomed us into their home for the night.
uncle matthew and aunt emily took us around to many of the schools in the area. a highlight of this trip was to see the faces of all the kids.
tiffany accidentally terrified one of the boys when she reached out to try and help move him away from stepping on a bowl of rice and beans-
after the schools in the village-we drove into the city of eldorett-we went to the kenyan version of walmart-nakumart. it always intrigues me to go into grocery stores and see what kinds of things are the same and different. soda is a big deal-and milk comes in bags-and dried beans come in bulk in every varietymost of these pictures were taken from the window of a moving car-i wasn't sure how they would turn out-but they are some of my favorites from the trip.
