welcome little brother

this little boy's beginning was steeped in love. it was an honor to document his arrival. this was a true baby day kind of session-starting with a text at 630am that the midwife was on her way. i loved watching the big sisters go from calm excited to anxious excited to true love and joy in an instant.  it was an amazing experience and i was thrilled to get to return to their lovely house a week or so later and do more family pictures. they are natural and loving with each other in a way that is rare and beautiful and makes me remember that the interaction is often my favorite part of a photograph. you can worry about lighting and background-but what most often makes a photograph special is the feeling that is portrayed by the people in it.

waiting for a snow day

we did not think our snow plan was a possibility in mid january, but patience paid off and we had a picturesque evening. thick snow, golden sun, above freezing temperatures and the cutest 2 kids wrapped in wonderful warm gear. thank you guys for making this happen-it was an awesome experience-even if it involved getting pelted with a few snow balls :)

the road ahead

getting to shoot in the snow is one of my favorite things. it makes ordinary locations appear magical and  offers new inspiration. the cold prevented us from traveling too far-but as i was editing the pictures it was meaningful to me to see the path. they are at the beginning of such a wonderful story.
happy belly in the snow!
