lucy is born

i decided on the name 'babydayphotography' because of days like this. rushing to the hospital to be there to document the welcoming of brand new tiny people is one of my favorite things ever-

this one made me laugh-jon comes out to tell his family about their new little girl and of course they ask "how big is she? " the nurses had not yet weighed her so he showed them with his hands "about this big"

congratulations on being a mommy and daddy-little lucy is a very lucky girl :)

cuteness plus a monkey hat

this session was just one joy after another-unfolding. and then she brought out the monkey hat that one of her co-workers had made for eden. see a few of their first pictures here and here

cold fun

i love meeting new families-but there is something really special about getting to photograph a family several years in a row. it was a cold afternoon and it was obvious that these 3 grandchildren have some way cool grandparents :)

and way back before i had started this blog we took this one-

progression

in photography i get to see growth and progression of families in a condensed format. i remember molly when she was born-her sisters commenting that they should name her pineapple. i remember squishy cheeks and mismatched tights. this year the girls sat in a golden pool of light and read a book together. i was caught off guard by them being so grown up. life is so fast. i'm feeling like that more and more these days. taking the time to create lasting images of the right now is hard-but so very valuable.

one more time

the last time i photographed them they were a family of three with a baby on the way-it was great fun to see how much things can change in just two years :)
it was a surprisingly cold morning-we were supposed to meet outside-but instead decided to reroute to their house.
