hats off to the birthday boy
this session almost had to be rescheduled. that morning at 7 the weather channel was predicting rain, and a huge blob of green and yellow was moving slowly across kansas heading our way. but we braved it-hoping for the best-and it paid off. after some sprinkles and 5 minutes of wind it cleared off and the sun appeared. we were able to celebrate daxon's 2nd birthday with balloons a birthday hat and lots of adoring attention for this beautiful boy.

fast forward
i first met cohen when he was only a few weeks old (here). i was very excited about the opportunity to work with them again to do a family picture with james's parents and siblings. as i watched them laugh, tease, and be-i couldn't help but fast forward my life 20 years and picture my 4 kids as grown people. grown people who love to be together.

family fun
my favorite part about photographing families is watching them interact together. i love being able to make an image that will remind them of a feeling of that moment. i am learning that these moments are fleeting-kids grow up so quickly and although this growing is exciting -it is wonderful to look back and remember what 5, 3, and 1 looked like. how they played skipbo at night and tried on hats, how they rolled in the grass and make silly faces. these are the things that make up your family.

believe
Alice laughed. "There's no use trying," she said: "one can't believe impossible things."
"I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast."
