the rescue cat

this was a photo shoot was filled with firsts. i have been wanting to replicate this idea for awhile- i saw it first on one of my favorite photo blogs (blue lily). they are an inspiration to me-in their way of life, their creative ideas and their gorgeous photography. so, on a monday after work i made bobby pile up as many mattresses as possible in the truck and haul them out to the meadow. we covered them with all the quilts i have confiscated from my mom and the girls seemed to be having a great time. it wasn't until a little later in the shoot that grace declared that this was the 'worst day of her life' (another first for me). luckily, darrell, one of our new cats found us among the prairie grass and cheered up this tired girl. he has never made an appearance during a photo shoot before-so he must have known he was needed :)

fall is the best!

october has been a crazy month. i have been honored to photograph so many families and kids-and i totally understand why everyone wants pictures in october. the color is awesome, the leaves are fantastic and it just feels so wonderful outside. these pictures just shout fall to me-and what a great way to celebrate this adorable boy who just turned 1! see his 6 month pictures here

i love this one because it looks like he is thinking 'wow, my mom is beautiful!' and he is right :)

welcoming eden

stacia and greg came out to the farm to capture some maternity pictures and 6 days later miss eden was born. she is an adored little girl as they are in awe of her every detail. i can't wait to share more, but i had to post a few since i know she is changing with every day that passes.

sarah in the fall

i always look forward to seeing this sweet face again-and her demeanor is just as lovely as those big blue eyes. i have been fortunate enough to photograph her several times in her 7 months and love that i get to play a small part in her beautiful story. see her grow  herehere, and here.

racing the sun

the days are getting shorter-and sunlight is sometimes tricky to predict. one little cloud can hugely affect how the light makes the prairie grass glow. we started this shoot way back by the back pond and worked our way west. luckily this is an adventurous and crazy fun family that didn't mind me racing them all over the farm trying to get the best light. i work with erin at idc and it was great to see how she and her family are the perfect fit for one another-they compliment each other in a seamless way that is a great mix of caring, generosity and love while also being very enteraining.

going on a bear hunt

come on, we are going on a bear hunt.
look! a hill! we can't get round it. we can't get through it. gonna climb over it.

i love a good theme-and nathan provided a great one for this photo shoot. we looked for hills, trees, grass, and a cave. it was perfect.

rosalee's nature adventure

this girl was enthralled by the grass, flowers, hedge apples, and the sounds of the birds. i love when kids are fascinated with nature and it was a joy to watch her discover and explore. i had the opportunity to photograph her on the day she was born-so watching her grow and and watching her parents help her grow is a grand adventure for me :)

love and light

it was such a pleasure to photograph this beautiful couple. they were the best sports, driving all around chasing the light and relaxing into one another in a way that made capturing their love effortless.
