sweet baby simon
the excitement of a growing family is a beautiful thing-and i loved watching this family balancing it with calm and quiet moments. this family is dear to me-and i loved getting to watch sophia's big brother help her start to take on her new role as big sister. thank you heather for letting me convince you to let me be there to share in your joy :) see the whole slideshow here

new life at home
i was very privileged to be a part of this beautiful little boy's arrival into his loving family's home. it was a few hours full of quiet and powerful moments. i really just can't get enough of family's welcoming babies into their lives-
after caden was born, his mom asked his dad to say a prayer-

shine from within
my plan for this photo shoot included a beautiful setting sun and that golden light that makes everything look magical. however, the cloud were out and we were just feeling fortunate that the rain was staying away. but these girls make there own sunshine. who really needs more magic when you have 3 sisters dancing around with balloons in the prairie grass-laughing with each other and making silly faces :)

a little bit of perfect
you don't always get the ideal conditions for a photo shoot-and that's OK because the challenge of wind or clouds, or rain makes every photo shoot unique.
however, michelle and i coordinated this session at the last minute because you never turn down perfect.
the kids were delightful and i am always amazed when a family can pull off coordinated clothes, shoes, and hats. i photographed them last year, when little mason was only 2 weeks old. i loved getting to see how much they had grown over the past year-and how much the girls have embraced being big sisters.

real day with peter and henry
i love the real day concept-capturing a family in those everyday moments that contain the heart of who the family is on a daily basis. kids are made out of these daily experiences and they deserve to be remembered. angela contacted me about coming to their home to capture their family playtime and it was such a pleasure to spend the afternoon with them. the slideshow will be here soon-but for now, a tiny sneak peak.

the divine miss sarah jane
i have enjoyed every minute i've spent with this family. the last time i was with them little sarah had just been born and they were in awe of this beautiful baby girl that made them a family. well they are just as awe struck 2 and a half months later and so was i when i started photographing this sweet sweet face. and she loves the camera-

little miss lucy-
(scroll down to and push play for music-something on my playlist has changed and it no longer starts automatically)
when lucy's mom contacted me about starting the grow with me picture package we had a discussion about where we should do the newborn pictures. she then mentioned she was an interior designer and that the nursery was a special place she had created just for lucy. i knew we needed to capture the family there-there in that beautiful space where they spend so much time rocking, nursing, changing and loving this little girl. i was blown away by the grace and grandeur of the room and of the magic of a new family.
but as wondrous a haven as the room was-this little one was calmed by being outside-and i never pass up an opportunity to get kids in the grass...
can't wait to see her at 6 months!
